| Due to
outstanding performances by DLegend and Triggerfish Mad Dog
Racing took the points in both races 1 & 2 tonight, giving them
the round win, and continuing their unbeaten run through round 4
of the 'AusFactor V8Factor Team Series', in a hot and steamy
Buenos Aires. The
win places MDR second in their pool group for the series and
sets up an exciting tail end to the championship, with three
rounds remaining.
Race 1 was a very tight affair, with Quasi continuing his run of
bad luck with grid starts, and DLegend faltering mid race due to
technical issues. Triggerfish flew the MDR flag until the final
lap when EAO_Rancho.R slipped inside to take line honours. MDR
debutant Richo1 put in a fairly consistent performance, but
despite showing a good turn of speed was unable to capitalise.
MDR did, however, place well enough to take the race 1 win, by
only a point, and knew that they had a fight on their hands in
race 2 for the round victory.
Race 2 saw a clean start, with Quasi
going off fifth from grid but miss-shifted through turn one, and
pulling first gear, rather than second, on entry to the turn two
'chicane' style corner. DLegend and Triggerfish, meanwhile, took
advantage of every opportunity that came along and led the
charge, battling a determined EAO_Evil, and the ever persistent
EAO_Rancho.R throughout the early stages, before taking control
when the latter got loose through a turn.
After recovering from the lap one
brain fade Quasi began to run down both EAO_Rancho.R and
EAO_Blueprint, who were pushing a little too hard on occasion,
with EAO_Blueprint having some real problems with grip through
the hairpin. Richo1 meanwhile continued to fend off
EAO_Smilin~Monkey, who appeared to struggle through both races.
By the completion of race 1
DLegend and Triggerfish had held onto first and second placings,
respectively, with Quasi unable to run down the EAO chargers in
front, and Richo1 holding position to the chequered flag, giving
MDR another victory, and propelling them into second spot on the
championship ladder for their pool group.
With Christmas and the new year
approaching there is now a three week break before the MDR boys
travel to Brasil, to take on the equal second seeded 'Chev
Dealer Team' in what will be a full-on battle to decide a clear
second place team. |
