| Mad Dog Racing
tonight took out the Group C pool title in the AusFactor V8 Team
Series for 2009.
With confidence high amongst team drivers Triggerfish, Richo1,
Maxcat and MDR-Quasi, the team looked forward to the meeting
with the internally
troubled V8SOL2 team. However, as with the 'Chev Dealer Team' in
round 5, MDR's opposition failed to put in an appearance for
this final round of the season proper.
"It's really disappointing to
win the group C title this way", said a despondent MDR team
captain, "This is the second round in a row where we were on the
mark in lap times, that were good enough to win this thing on
the track. After JFF's second team pulled out of the
championship a couple of rounds ago we knew we had the forfeit
in round 6, but with CDT not making an appearance in round 5
we've been forced to win this series with 3 forfeits in a row
now, meaning we have put in the work for nothing, and haven't
raced for a month. I always knew we had what it took to finish
second in group C, but as things unfolded and there was a
shakeup at V8SOL I took a look at the performance of the guys
and began to see that we had a real shot at first place."
The table was turned on it's ear
at the same time, when V8SOL2 also failed to appear for their
match race with WMS Racing, rocketing that team to second place
in group C.
With MDR now going into the
finals seeded 2nd overall they face-off against Group
B finalists HSV, whilst WMS are pitted against the might of
1st seeded 'Full Noise Race Team' in the overall series finals. |
